How it works
tails.com is a UK personalised dog food subscription run by Tailsco Ltd. Instead of a range of fixed products, it blends a dry food for each dog from a two-minute questionnaire, with optional wet food, treats and dental chews added to the same monthly box.
- Tell it about your dogAge, breed, weight, activity level, allergies or sensitivities, and health goals such as joints, digestion or weight.
- Get a tailored blendtails.com says it blends the kibble from over a million possible combinations, using beef, chicken, lamb or salmon, with additions such as glucosamine, chondroitin or prebiotics where your dog's profile calls for them.
- Monthly deliveryA box arrives monthly with a personalised feeding plan and a portion scoop. You can pause, skip or cancel from your dashboard.
Is tails.com worth it?
tails.com is worth it if the convenience and tailoring matter to you and the ongoing price shown after the quiz is close to what you pay for a good complete dry food now. Its advertised starting price of 62p a day (checked 21 October 2026) is at the bottom of the £0.57 to £1.54 a day range in our dog food comparison for a 20 kg dog, but tails.com does not say which dog the 62p applies to, and larger or more active dogs cost more.
What you get on top of a bag of kibble: a blend adjusted to your dog's profile, a daily feeding plan and scoop, free standard delivery and a free re-blend if your dog will not eat it. What you do not get is fresh food: it is dry kibble. If your dog already does well on a complete dry food, the main gain is convenience.
Is tails.com expensive?
Not by subscription standards. At the advertised 62p a day, 30 days of food is about £18.60; fresh cooked subscriptions start much higher (Butternut Box's own estimator showed £2.23 to £3.19 a day on 21 October 2026). The first two boxes are discounted, 60% then 30%, up to £75 off per order, so judge the price from box three.
tails.com says you pay one fixed monthly amount unless you change your dog's profile, and that prices may change with inflation. Nominated-day delivery costs £3.99. To see food alongside insurance, flea treatment and vet costs, use our pet cost calculator or read our cost of owning a dog guide.
How much tails.com should I feed my dog?
tails.com works the amount out for you: your feeding plan gives a daily portion and the box includes a personalised scoop. The portion depends on age, activity, weight goal and whether your dog is neutered. tails.com does not publish the calorie density of a typical blend, so we cannot convert it to grams for you.
As a check on the plan, the AAHA formula in our dog food portion calculator puts a neutered adult's daily energy at about 551–630 kcal at 10 kg, 927–1059 kcal at 20 kg, 1256–1436 kcal at 30 kg. Enter your blend's kcal per 100 g from its label to see grams. If your dog needs to slim down, tick the weight goal and see our dog food for weight loss page.
What is in tails.com dog food?
tails.com says its kibble uses beef, chicken, lamb and salmon as protein sources, vegetables such as peas and sweet potato, and oats, maize and rice, with a grain-free option. Blends can include glucosamine, chondroitin and prebiotics, and it says there is no added sugar, colours, flavours or preservatives (checked 21 October 2026).
It is a dry kibble, not fresh or raw food. If you want cooked fresh food, see our Butternut Box review or Different Dog review, both much dearer per day.

What tails.com costs
tails.com's help pages say there is no set price: the monthly amount depends on the dog's profile, recipe, portions and extras, and is shown before payment. We did not create a fictional dog profile to manufacture a quote. These are the published figures.

What changed in this update
- 21 October 2026: Upgrade: re-checked the 62p a day price, the offer (now 60% off box one and 30% off box two), delivery charges and cancelling; added 'Is it worth it', 'Is it expensive' and 'How much to feed' sections, a published-prices table and the Trustpilot score, count and themes.
- 21 October 2026: Removed: the weekly example prices for four breeds, because we could not find the offer page they came from; and claims about ingredient quality and nutrient loss that tails.com's pages do not support.
- 21 October 2026: Advertised price checked against the tails.com pricing page. Removed our star score, because we do not score brands without a published method.
Frequently asked questions
Is tails.com worth it UK?
It can be, if you want a dry food tailored to your dog's profile and delivered monthly. The advertised starting price, 62p a day (checked 21 October 2026), sits at the low end of the £0.57 to £1.54 a day we found for complete dry foods for a 20 kg dog. Compare the ongoing price shown after the quiz, not the discounted first box, with what you pay now.
How much is tails.com dog food?
tails.com advertises plans from 62p a day (about £18.60 for 30 days) and says the price depends on your dog's profile, recipe, portion and any extras. New customers were offered 60% off the first box and 30% off the second when we checked on 21 October 2026. Standard delivery is free on mainland UK.
Is tails.com legit?
Yes: tails.com is run by a UK company, Tailsco Ltd, and its Trustpilot profile has been claimed since October 2014. On 21 October 2026 it had 47,749 Trustpilot reviews with a score of 4.4 out of 5. The most common complaints we read were late deliveries and people not realising a trial started a subscription, so check the subscription terms before you sign up.
Can I cancel my tails.com subscription?
Yes. You can pause, delay or cancel at any time from your online dashboard (Quick Links, then Cancel). Check the 'last date for changes' for your next delivery, because a box past that date will still be sent.
Is tails.com grain free?
Its standard blends use oats, maize and rice, but you can choose a grain-free recipe when you create your dog's profile. tails.com warns that traces of other ingredients can be present, so ask your vet first if your dog has a serious allergy.
Is tails.com suitable for puppies?
Yes. tails.com sells puppy blends and adjusts the recipe and portion as your dog's profile changes. Update the weight as your puppy grows; for big breeds, see our large breed puppy food guide on growth and calcium.
